Il professor Gregg Graffin dichiara: "The new album marks a return to some of Bad Religion's classic themes and is allegorical rather than direct. Which is why there is no direct reference to Iraq in the new music. I think everyone is really tired of hearing about how everyone is opposed to the war, It's just not interesting" ." Un periodo diviso tra l'insegnamento all'università UCLA di Los Angeles (dipartimento di scienze naturali) e la registrazione del nuovo album (ai Grand Master Studios) di una delle più importanti istituzioni americane. "New Maps Of Hell" esce dunque il 10 luglio per la Epitaph a tre anni di distanza da "Empire Strikes First" e ad uno dal DVD "Live At The Palladium". Il lavoro è stato co-scritto con Brett Gurewitz (impegnato alla guida della Epitaph) e prodotto dal notissimo Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age, Weezer). Lo stesso Gurewitz ha dichiarato: "We all liked the concept of maps, because we are exploring new material on this record, both musically and topically". Tornando a Graffin, l'artista/professore ha recentemente realizzato un libro con lo storico Preston Jones dal titolo "Belief In God Good, Bad Or Irrelevant?", nel quale i due argomentano di scienza, religione, cristianità e quant'altro. Senza dimenticare il secondo appuntamento solista "Cold As The Clay" uscito nel luglio 2006. Sicuramente per il sestetto (che oltre ai due sopra citati comprende anche Greg Hetson, Brian Baker, Jay Bentley e Brooks Wackerman) sarà il modo migliore per festeggiare un venticinquennale di una storia imperdibile che con "New Maps Of Hell" toccherà quota quattordici.
